  8.      At times of peace 
  9. and prosperity the emperor 
  10. of China would celebrate 
  11. the great Feng-shan rite 
  12. at Mount Tai in Shantung 
  13. province with these tablets
  14. inscribed  with  prayers.  
  15. The  upper  set  of  jade 
  16. tablets were used by the 
  17. T'ang emperor Hsuan Tsung 
  18. (A.D. 713-755), and the 
  19. other by the Sung emperor 
  20. Chen Tsung (A.D. 998-1022).
